The vision of El Encanto de La Laguna started when the developer’s first visited the small area East of San Jose del Cabo by the name of “La Laguna” and fell in love with it.
“There was something different about La Laguna. The fact that I could fly into San Jose del Cabo in less than 2 hours from San Diego, and then a short drive and be in this area that had the quintessential Baja feel with white sand beaches and miles of desert. I was hooked from day one and knew that I wanted to share this with family and friends. This is really how El Encanto de La Laguna was born” says Rick Wesselink the developer.
In the early part of the 2000’s there was talk about a new marina, golf courses, bridge, along with new roads that would open up the area East of downtown San Jose del Cabo. The area of La Laguna was in the path of future growth and timing was perfect to start a development unlike anything else in Los Cabos. Rick Wesselink and Steve Galvanoni (developers) wanted to create a community that would be an oasis by the sea, with city power, desalination plant, paved roads, while keeping the unique feel of the La Laguna area. Ground first broke in early 2005 and what started as a dream on paper would start to shape into reality. At the time there was very little infrastructure east of downtown San Jose del Cabo.
The developer’s vision from day one was to design a boutique beachfront community that would exemplify the best of Los Cabos living through a combination of stunning architecture, design, a premium beachfront location, and full service team. It was important for the developers to make sure the development had a boutique community feel to it versus a hotel type of feel. Through a well designed terraced site-plan that allows for all residences to have excellent views and be within steps of a pristine beach and amenities, there is no such thing as an unattractive location inside of El Encanto de La Laguna. The developers felt that the old world charm that is noticeable in all of the “Hacienda style” residences was an important feature as long as it was combined with the latest construction materials and technologies to create an environmentally friendly community with homes and condos that require less maintenance and consume less energy.
To achieve the quality control that the developers wanted to implement, they made sure to recruit some of the top talent throughout Mexico and the U.S. to form an “in-house” team that would consist of engineers, architects, legal, and sales to make sure that it was common practice to under promise and over deliver. It became clear from the beginning stages of the development that the clients of EL Encanto would need and want property management that would be attentive to their needs and provide reliable service at a fair price. The forming of Maintenance East Cape otherwise known as “MEC” was by no coincidence. The company has been serving the community for more than 5 years now. With a specialized team of more than 30 employees that range from property management to concierge to landscapers and pool service providers, MEC has been the reliable solution for the homeowners maintenance needs and the communities HOA needs for many years. There is no job too big or small for the MEC team.
The developer’s are very proud to be a part of a great community and have forged many friendships with current owners.
We invite you to experience the vision and dream that make EL Encanto de La Laguna a one of a kind destination property.
